Yuva Jyothi

Robust functioning of the developmental sector (also known as Third sector) needs motivated, young developmental professionals. To develop this army of young developmental professionals, ‘Yuva Jyothi’ programme is implemented with sponsorship from CAPART.

These young professionals are being imparted life skills and vocational skills to have their own income stream whilst providing developmental services in the rural areas. They are also moulded to become grassroots NGO workers. IDF will be developing such 750 young professionals in Belgaum, Haveri, Chitradurga and Haveri districts.
 

Nodal NGO services

Under this programme sponsored by CAPART, grass roots NGOs are identified and helped to develop the projects addressing local developmental challenges. They are facilitated to obtain project funding from CAPART.

IDF is serving as district nodal NGO at Belgaum, Haveri and Chitradurga districts. It is also functioning as Block nodal NGO for 16 blocks in Belgaum, Haveri, Chitradurga and Tumkur districts.


Watershed Development

Nagarahalli watershed

Watershed development was taken up at Nagarhalli and Mantur village in Dharwad district covering 500 hectares and 180 land holdings. This programme was funded by the Zilla Panchayath, Dharwad. The key components of interventions were:
 

• Participatory watershed treatment
• Farming system intensification
• Income generation activities for vulnerable groups

A Watershed Society was constituted covering 172 members and 9 SHGs.

Totagatti watershed

In this watershed located in Ron Taluk, Gadag district 1000
hectares is being covered for watershed treatment, covering five villages. Afforestation and Community based organisations are being developed for promotion of micro enterprises with micro finance support.
