Supported by Hivos, it was IDF’s initiative with the transgender community in Bengaluru aiming at promoting alternative livelihood options for transgenders. The approach comprised of;

• Personalized counseling for transgenders

• Identification of service providers for alternative livelihoods

• Soft skills and entrepreneurial skills development

• Sensitization programs

• Organizing exposure visits

The target group was reached through CBOs working among the transgenders. Their attitudes, strengths for employment and self-employment were assessed.

Prospective service seekers (employment providers), institutions imparting training in life skills, soft skills and entrepreneurial skills were identified and skill development programmes were organized. Awareness and sensitization programmes, a major intervention in the project-both for the transgenders and the sections of the society were conducted.
